THOUGHTFUL GARDEN CARE

We believe creating a garden does not stop when the design and planting are complete. Gardens are living spaces that change with the seasons, mature over time and continually respond to their surroundings.

Our garden maintenance and aftercare service provides thoughtful, horticulturally informed care to help gardens establish, mature and remain beautiful throughout the year.

We work with gardens we have designed as well as existing gardens that would benefit from a more considered approach to gardening. Rather than simply keeping a garden tidy, we look at how the planting is developing and what the garden needs as the seasons change.

GARDENING WITH A DESIGN-LED APPROACH

We offer regular weekly, fortnightly or monthly visits, as well as one-off garden care where required.

The work is tailored to each garden and can include seasonal pruning, weeding, cutting back, planting, plant establishment and general horticultural care. We also monitor how plants are developing and can advise on changes or additions where these would improve the garden over time.

For newly planted gardens, careful aftercare is particularly important. The first few seasons allow plants to establish and the planting scheme to develop its intended structure, colour and character.

For gardens we create or other designers have created our knowledge of the original design means we can continue to care for the garden with an understanding of the intention behind every planting decision.

GARDEN STEWARDSHIP

We believe that good garden care should work with nature rather than constantly trying to control it.

Where appropriate, we leave seed heads and plant stems through the winter, allowing them to provide structure as well as food and shelter for wildlife. We compost suitable garden material on site and use practices such as ‘chop and drop’ to return organic matter to the soil.

We also retain larger pieces of natural material where appropriate, creating habitats such as dead hedges and other features that support biodiversity.

This approach means that a garden can remain beautifully cared for without losing the natural processes that make it a living landscape.

DEVELOPING YOUR GARDEN OVER TIME

Regular care also gives us the opportunity to observe how a garden changes.

Plants may outgrow their original position, unexpected combinations may emerge or a particular area may benefit from further planting. Rather than making changes simply for the sake of it, we can make considered adjustments as the garden matures.

Our aim is to help each garden become richer, more established and more enjoyable with every passing season.
